Black Bird, Vol. 2 - Kanoko Sakurakoji 'Misao is the bride of prophecy whose blood gives power to the demon who claims her. But most demons want to keep her power for themselves - by eating her! Now Misao is just trying to stay alive...'

Sparkles and beautiful men and drama, oh my!! *twirls*

I really enjoyed this volume of Black Bird. In it, we were introduced to the eight Daitengu, Kyo's vassals, including Kyo's older brother, Sojo. Misao struggled with her feelings for Kyo, unsure if he actually loves her or if he only wants her for the prosperity of his clan.

There are still some problems with abrupt scene transition, but it is not as bad as it was in volume one. Perhaps because I was so engrossed in the story I didn't notice, but hey.

The plot this volume was more exciting and engaging than that of the first. This could perhaps be explained by the fact the first volume was kind of an introduction to the premise of the series and volume two has been able to delve into character development more.

My fears that Black Bird could cross the line in regards to sexual assault were (thankfully) not realised this volume. I think Kyo respects Misao too much for him to do anything serious without her consent. Other demons, not so much perhaps, but then these demons are portrayed as evil and hopefully Kyo will always be around to save the day.

I did wonder towards the end of the volume that it seemed to be running out of plot, but thankfully a new spanner was thrown in the mechanism of Kyo and Misao's relationship in the last few pages. I should have known it wouldn't be that easy...

Looking forward to reading the next volume! :)
